CAPTCHA settings

Use SettingsCAPTCHA to add provider credentials for the CAPTCHA types UpForm supports. These settings apply across the app. After you configure a type here, enable that type on each form you want to protect.

For step-by-step key setup, see reCAPTCHA Enterprise or Cloudflare Turnstile.

Supported CAPTCHA types

UpForm supports these types:

  • reCAPTCHA Enterprise - Checkbox — classic “I’m not a robot” checkbox
  • reCAPTCHA Enterprise - Score-based — risk score based on visitor behavior
  • Cloudflare Turnstile (Managed) — Cloudflare decides when to show a challenge
  • Cloudflare Turnstile (Non-interactive) — runs in the background without a click challenge

Select the type that matches the keys or widget you created with Google Cloud or Cloudflare.

Configure CAPTCHA in Settings

  1. In UpForm, open SettingsCAPTCHA.
  2. Select the CAPTCHA type you want to use.
  3. Enter the required fields for that provider (for example, key ID, project ID, and API key for reCAPTCHA Enterprise, or site key and secret key for Turnstile).
  4. Click Save.

CAPTCHA provider credentials settings

You can also open Configure CAPTCHA from a form’s General tab.

If credentials are wrong or incomplete, verification can fail and the form may not be protected.

Enable CAPTCHA on a form

Credentials in Settings do not automatically protect every form. Enable CAPTCHA on each form you want to secure.

  1. Open the form in the form builder.
  2. Go to the General tab → CAPTCHA.
  3. Under CAPTCHA type, choose a configured type (or No CAPTCHA / Use the default CAPTCHA if those options appear).
  4. Choose a Theme of Light or Dark if shown.
  5. Save the form.

Different forms can use different CAPTCHA types, as long as each type is configured in Settings.

For more form-level options, see General.
