Multilingual SEO

If your Shopify store uses more than one language, sync those languages in SEOEngine, then edit SEO fields for each language in SEO Audit. This workflow combines steps from Languages and SEO Audit.

Before you begin

  • Your Shopify store has more than one language configured
  • SEOEngine is open in your Shopify admin

Sync languages in Settings

When you add, edit, or remove languages in Shopify, SEOEngine does not update automatically. Sync to refresh the list from your store.

  1. Open SEOEngine in Shopify admin.
  2. Go to SettingsLanguages.
  3. Review Current languages. Your store’s primary language is marked with a Default badge.
  4. Select Sync languages.
  5. Wait for the sync to finish.
  6. Confirm Current languages matches the languages configured in Shopify.

If sync fails, try again later. If the problem continues, Contact for help.

For full settings details, see Languages.

Edit SEO content by language in SEO Audit

After languages are synced, the language selector in the audit editor shows the updated list so you can save translations for each language.

  1. From SEOEngine, go to SEO Audit.
  2. Open a product, collection, page, or blog post.
  3. Use the language selector in the editor to choose the language you want to edit.
  4. Update SEO fields for that language, such as keyphrases, content, and search engine listing details.
  5. Save your changes when the save bar appears.

Some translated fields may require a primary language value before the translation can be saved.

For browsing, filters, and editor fields, see SEO Audit.

  • You can perform audits for the home page, products, collections, content pages, and blog posts.
  • On the home page, meta title and meta description are managed by your Shopify theme. Select Go to Theme Preferences to update them in Shopify admin.
